Anarea > Story > Secret Squirrels
Secret Squirrels is a Wilderness Campaign to be run over Zoom, with a WhatsApp Group for the party to chat. It follows on from the successful Lockdown in Mount Anar Dungeon Campaign.
The party are a loosely-associated group of Squirrel Cultists who have come together to seek Nutty Quests from the High Priest of the Temple-Tree of RATATOSKR, the Unbeatable God of Squirrels, in Taur-na-Dúiren (Forest of the Oaks) in Taur-Galen. The campaign will consist of a series of Nutty Quests to be achieved in the surrounding area.
Each Player should design up to three Characters in accordance with the instructions below. There will be a recommended number of Participants for each Nutty Quest, depending on its level of difficulty, and a fixed amount of RATATOSKR Credit (counted in acorns) for fulfilling it, to be shared amongst the Participants. Each Player must therefore choose which of their three Characters to send on any particular Nutty Quest. (Because RATATOSKR is G/C the recommended number of Participants is a guideline, rather than a rule, and because the party are G/C not all of them may decide in character to go on any particular Nutty Quest.)
Characters should be designed up as follows:
The instructions in How to Design a Character apply. Be sure to download and use the latest version of the Character Specification Spreadsheet, which will be updated to include Squirrel Cultists.
Starting Level (para 5) for each Character is 4 + d100 RUD for the next 2 decimal places.
Species Equalization is not in effect, but there are restrictions on the Species that may be chosen.
At least two-thirds of the total party must be Sindar Elves (Half-Elves count as half a party member). Calaquendi, Moriquendi and Dwarves are not permitted. Humans (and Half-Humans) should be Valdrean, Grasslanders or Ky'rb-Ok.
At least half of the total party must be Female (by biological sex).
Players will need to agree Race and Sex of their Characters amongst themselves to comply with the above restrictions.
All must have their Faith in RATATOSKR, the Unbeatable God of Squirrels, and will therefore be Squirrel Cultists. Note that this does not necessarily restrict Alignment to G/C (except for Clerics), as RATATOSKR will accept Ft from anyone. Members of rival Cults are not permitted.
Lycanthropy is not permitted (Weresquirrels do not exist).
Pets are only permitted for Druids and Binders, and must be squirrels (no dogs).
Potions, Poisons and Drugs may be purchased at standard prices from the Shops page. Mithril, Mithril-tipped and Magic Items may not be purchased. If a character has rolled up sufficient starting cash, you will need to negotiate with the DM to be allowed to purchase an appropriate Elvish Magic Item for them.
Note that party members who are not Elves, or at least Half-Elves, may be at a disadvantage in Taur-Galen, as many trails can only be followed by Elves. Non-Elves without a guide may become lost and fall under the spell of the Trance of the Trees. Elves (and Half-Elves) may purchase items from the Elf Craftsmen with their starting cash. Non-Elves will have to acquire these during play or by trading with other party members.
Nutty Quests will be assigned by the High Priest using Tarot Cards (as for Plots in Forty Factions).
The campaign will begin on the first day of Spring (19 Destri) 2506.
Good luck!
